At Green Event Ninjas we work with event producers, planners, and suppliers (e.g. venues, caterers, etc.) to help them get the most value out of their operations and events by looking at the issues they’re facing through a sustainability lens. Our services include sustainable event consulting, event cleaning and waste management, event carbon footprints, and event sustainability standards compliance.

Who We Are Looking For 

Green Event Ninjas is seeking hard-working and dedicated team players to join our ninja tribe in the role of Recycling Ninja. In this position, you will be on the front lines of our event operations, working closely with the team to keep the fairgrounds spotless.

Position Details: Recycling Ninja | Event Cleaning

Join our team at the Great New York State Fair!

  • Event Dates: Aug 26–Sept 7 (Part Time, Seasonal) 
  • Shifts: 
    • 1st Shift: Day (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
    • 2nd Shift: Evening (2:00 PM – 12:00 AM)
    • 3rd Shift: Overnight (10:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Pay: $20.75 per hour
  • Location: 581 State Fair Boulevard, Syracuse, New York

Role Requirements 

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the event grounds, buildings, and bathrooms of all litter and patron debris.
  • Empty trash receptacles, lift bags onto push carts, and transport waste to our compactor. 
  • Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with unloading and distributing equipment and supplies throughout the venue.
  • Perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, and staying on the move with extended periods of walking and standing.

Additional Qualifications

  • Work Location: In person (reliable transportation to and from the venue is required)
  • Prior experience: Event work within a team setting is an asset 
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (rain or shine) and navigating crowded, fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of physical activity including standing/walking for the duration of a shift, lifting up to 50 lbs, navigating stairs, and performing repetitive motions (lifting, kneeling, trash handling etc.).
  • Commitment to following all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques, safely operating equipment (push carts, vacuum), PPE use, and reporting safety hazards, spills, and damaged equipment.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
